Apple Watch Series 12: Readiness Score Arrives

Apple Watch Series 12 improves health tracking and interface, but controversial audio features delayed until later this year.

The update

Apple Watch Series 12 introduces a more intuitive interface with better health tracking and faster charging. The new Health Sensing System and S11 chip enhance monitoring capabilities, while watchOS 27 streamlines the user experience with Siri AI at its center. The series marks the return of ceramic finishes in pearl white and night blue, discontinued since 2020. Battery life has improved from 18 to 24 hours, and the watch is now Apple’s thinnest yet at 9.7mm for aluminum and titanium models.

Why it matters

For users with Series 8 or older models, the Series 12 represents a generational leap with significant health upgrades including sleep apnea and hypertension notifications. The improved battery life and streamlined interface make daily use more convenient. However, the controversial Audio Intelligence features—Siri Recaps and Live Rewind—aren’t available at launch, despite being highlighted during the keynote.

What to watch

Will the delayed Audio Intelligence features deliver on their promises when they arrive later this year? How will the ceramic finish impact market perception compared to traditional materials? The health sensing improvements may set new standards for competitors, but the missing audio features could affect early adoption momentum.
