Anthropic Merges Claude Chat and Cowork

The update

Anthropic is rolling Claude Cowork back into regular Claude, creating a unified interface that combines chat, Cowork, and Artifacts features. The change applies to Pro and Max plans initially, with more plans to follow. The company is also introducing Claude Docs, which allows users to create, edit, and present slides that can be downloaded as PowerPoint or PDF files. This consolidation comes after Anthropic launched Cowork in January as a separate productivity tool and later moved it to the cloud in July.

This consolidation simplifies the user experience by eliminating the need to choose between different interfaces for different tasks. Anthropic noted that customers often struggled to decide which tab to use for the right task. The unified approach lets Claude automatically route requests without requiring users to switch tabs.
