Trump Offers White House Press Secretary Job to UFC Chief Dana White

President Donald Trump has offered UFC chief Dana White the White House press secretary job, and White responded with a photo behind the briefing-room lectern.

The update

President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he has offered Dana White, president and chief executive of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the job of White House press secretary. In a Truth Social post, Trump called White a “violent Fighter and Warrior,” urged him to “please take the job” and said he could bring assistants. The post has been vacant since Katie Zacharia left on October 16, after less than a week in the role. White has not confirmed accepting, but later posted an image of himself behind the briefing-room lectern captioned “On to the next chapter.”

Why it matters

The offer is the second senior White House staffing move in two days, after Trump said Stephen Miller would replace Susie Wiles as chief of staff. It comes days after Democrats won control of both the House and Senate in the midterms. White, who has led the UFC since 2001, is a longtime Trump ally, and the press secretary is the administration’s most public spokesperson.

What to watch

Whether White formally accepts, and if so when he would start and who would lead the UFC. Neither the White House nor the UFC had confirmed an appointment, and it remains unclear whether White’s post signalled acceptance or acknowledgement. A confirmation would complete a rapid reshaping of Trump’s top team.
