Spider-Man: Brand New Day Review

Spider-Man: Brand New Day returns to the character's core strengths while Marvel's Spider-Man 2 adds new suits and PS5 Pro enhancements.

The update

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has received a free update adding two new suits: the “Fresh Start” suit based on Tom Holland’s costume from the new film, and a cel-shaded “Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls” suit with anime-inspired aesthetics. The update also adds support for Enhanced PSSR on PS5 Pro and a Power Saver mode to reduce energy consumption.

Why it matters

Spider-Man: Brand New Day refocuses on the character’s most reliable elements: swinging through New York City and saving the day. The film centers on Peter Parker’s struggle to balance his superhero life with his personal connections after being forgotten by everyone he knows. This approach returns to the character’s fundamentals while introducing new physiological changes and powers.

What to watch

Will the PS5 Pro enhancements significantly improve the visual experience? How will the film’s more restrained approach compare to previous MCU Spider-Man entries? What’s next for Insomniac Games after Marvel’s Wolverine launches in September?
