Discord Not Yet Served GTA Leak Subpoena

Discord confirms not yet served subpoena for GTA 6 leak user data despite Take-Two's court filing

The update

Discord has confirmed it has not yet been served with a subpoena from Take-Two regarding Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks. The company’s marketing director Ryan K. Rigney stated that when Discord does receive the subpoena, it will “evaluate the validity and scope before responding.”

Why it matters

Take-Two filed subpoenas in federal court seeking broad user data from Discord and Microsoft related to the GTA 6 leaks. The request includes registration emails, IP addresses, phone numbers, and linked connections for users of specific Discord servers. This raises significant privacy concerns for potentially hundreds of thousands of users who participated in these communities. The legal process requires formal service before companies must respond to such requests.

What to watch

Watch how Discord evaluates the subpoena’s scope and whether it challenges any aspects of the request. Microsoft has already indicated cooperation with Take-Two. The legal process will also reveal whether the subpoena targets specific users or casts a wider net, and how this might set precedents for future gaming leak investigations.
