Apple and Major League Baseball are expanding the reach of “Friday Night Baseball” to Apple Vision Pro. The service, known as Apple Immersive, will debut on August 28 with a Red Sox vs. Yankees matchup. The broadcast uses 8K 3D video with a 180-degree field of view, placing viewers in the stadium. It features Spatial Audio, dedicated commentary, and live stats floating in the viewer’s space.
Why it matters
This marks the first time live sports are available in Apple’s spatial video format. It offers a new way to experience the game, potentially setting a standard for future immersive media. The feature is available to Apple TV subscribers in Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the UK, and the U.S.
